Mx Surname Websites
Below are various websites that provide searches for and data pertaining to Mx surnames. Mx is used to abbreviate all the various spellings of the Molyneux name.
Most sites are free but there are a few that require payment to access their data. The pay sites will be identified. Also each listing will provide basic information as to the nature and quantity of data. But do not be fooled. Some of the lesser known sites with little information may have the data you are looking for. So do not assume they are not worth looking at.
Because there are so many sites providing this service, this page will be an on-going project to list new sites as they are discovered.
Guild of One-Name Studies Simply start by typing a name into the search box. If your name is not found, go to the bottom of the results page and select the first letter of your name. It may be that there are different spellings, so search the list of names that show for the letter search.
This website was started as a part of the Cloud Family in Texas. The site has a search box to type in names or you can select the Surnames link in the left menu. The surname link will provide various ways to search for a name. You can select a search by the first letter of the last name. A complete listing of all names on the site will appear with the number of persons with that last name.
This is a pay-to-use site. The cost is $9.95 per month if paid monthly. Cheaper rates apply if paid quarterly or yearly. There is a graphic presentation at the bottom of the main page. It shows what you will see based on the search you do (paid subscribers only). If you type a name to search, the site will provide statistics about how many names they have. If you subscribe, the site will provide lists of all first names it has for the last name input. The first names are accompanied by birth or death dates and where (born/died). You may see many of the same first names and have to go by dates or places. Once you select a first name, basic data on that person will appear: dates of birth and death; Father data and Mother data. If you select the link to see the family tree, OGF will ask to download a separate software for the tree. You can decide whether to download the additional software (it is free). Your firewall software may try to alert you that OGF is accessing parts of your computer. The tree software is divided into blocks on the screen. Each block contains dada on specified person, parents and siblings. The family tree portion can be sized to whatever viewing you desire. There are additional data screens available if you do not select the family tree link. Whatever data OGF has on a person, that data is presented as it may correlate to others on the website.
